In 2014, I embarked on my journey in Building Information Modelling (BIM) while working at a small architectural firm. After learning Revit, I successfully proposed and led a pilot project utilizing this innovative tool. The project showcased Revit’s capabilities through multi-category schedules, sheets, typical details, and isometric views. The impressive progress and the wealth of information generated garnered surprise and recognition from my company’s CEO, solidifying my commitment to Revit and BIM.
Pursuing a master’s degree further deepened my understanding of BIM’s benefits and transformative potential in architecture. Following my post graduation in 2019, I transitioned into the BIM industry, initially serving as a BIM Architect and currently holding the position of Assistant Project Manager at The BIM Engineers.
I possess extensive expertise in Building Information Modelling (BIM), with a strong focus on:
I adhere to the ISO 19650 standards and specialize in coordination, collaboration, and implementing BIM standards as outlined in the BIM Execution Plan (BEP). This comprehensive skill set enables me to contribute significantly to project efficiency and effectiveness within the BIM framework.
I am dedicated to fostering a collaborative and interdisciplinary work environment by strategically implementing cooperation, coordination, and collaboration. My focus on creating a comfortable atmosphere for all team members not only enhances productivity but also drives collective progress. This approach empowers me to effectively manage pressures while facilitating the upskilling of my team. I believe that cultivating a supportive culture is the key to my success and the success of my projects, enabling us to achieve our goals together.
As an Assistant Project Manager at The BIM Engineers, I primarily oversee projects in the GCC region. My day begins with a collaborative team session where we discuss daily tasks and address any challenges. This brief but focused exercise sets the tone for our productivity.
Following this, I engage in meetings with clients, contractors, sub-contractors, consultants, procurement teams, and internal technical teams to align on our scope of work. These discussions are crucial for planning subsequent actions and ensuring project success. At the end of the day, I check in with my team for updates on their progress.
Once the office hours conclude, I dedicate time to quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) of the team’s outputs, followed by strategizing for the next day’s work. This comprehensive approach, which spans 12 to 14 hours daily, has been a fulfilling part of my professional journey for the past four years.
In my approach to project leadership, I emphasize humility and teamwork, viewing myself as a junior member of the team rather than a traditional authority figure. I make myself available to my colleagues at any time, encouraging them to take on the responsibilities they deserve while striving to create a positive work environment.
I firmly believe in eliminating boundaries that may restrict my team, fostering an atmosphere where collaboration thrives. Instead of asserting my role as “the boss,” I prefer to identify as a colleague, reinforcing that we are all part of the same team. My guiding principle is to lead by example, embodying the mindset of being a leader rather than merely a boss. This philosophy not only enhances team morale but also drives collective success.
